Making the Final Chapter Is Weird

Before you read!

I wrote this meandering devlog a month ago but didn't publish it. The fifth chapter is done and I'm now testing and polishing the game. However, if you want to peek into the mind of a gamedev working on the last chapter of his game, then knock yourself out!

So, the 4th chapter is initially in order and I've moved on to the last chapter.

A weird thing about making this chapter is that it happens in Cyan City. So I'm using a lot of rooms that are already scripted and I'm adding new script and events to them. This is a totally different workflow than I've had hereto. Earlier my workflow was roughly: draw graphics, put them into AGS-editor, script; repeat and make some music and sound in between; go back to drawing.

Now I don't have to draw a whole lot because all the backrounds for the area are already done (I drew two more though, one is the screenshot attached to this post), which leaves me with a very scattered set of events to be scripted and some small graphics to be drawn here and there. It leaves my notes all over the place.

I expected this last chapter to be less work but it's not. It's chaotic, terrifying and intensely exciting!

Terrifying and exciting because I'm ever closer to having a game (unpolished and untested but still) playable from start to finish.

Anyway, progress is being made and it's coming along.

Cheers!
